GardenCalendar.co.uk

Use the menu button in the top right hand corner of this and every page of the website to navigate through our gardening articles. We cover a wide range of vegetables, fruits, herbs, shrubs and ornamental plants.

This website centres around our gardening calendar which lets you select the fruit and vegetables you want to grow in your garden. Only those fruit and vegetables which you want to be included will appear in the calendar.

This makes the calendar personal to your needs and saves you trawling through dates and tasks for fruit / vegetables which you don't want to be included.

With the wonder of computer cookies, your selections will be stored on your computer, removing the need for you to reset the calendar every time you visit this website. You can very simply amend your selections by deleting or adding fruit / vegetables at any time.

The calendar will automatically generate all the tasks for each of your selections (sowing, planting, care, harvest etc.) and also sort all those tasks into date order, showing you week by week what needs to be done.

As a final bonus, if you enter your home town at the same time as making your selections (or any time afterwards), the dates generated for your calendar will be tailored to weather conditions in your area of the UK. Your home town will also be stored in a cookie on your computer so it will automatically be recalled each time you use the GardenCalendar website.

Consider this, temperatures in different parts of the UK greatly affect when vegetables can be sown, planted out, harvested etc. From the coolest to warmest parts of the UK the difference can be as much as six weeks with lots of variation in between.

The GardenCalendar website has over 800 UK towns stored with relevant dates for each and this is constantly being expanded.

The website also has up to date articles about how to grow all the common fruit, vegetables, shrubs, ornamental plants / trees and much more, written in non-technical language that both learner and more experienced gardeners can easily understand.
