1. When you use our "Date Adjust" feature (see here for the relevant page) you voluntarily select a town to enable us to personalise many of the dates used in the website. We then place a cookie on your computer which contains the selected town.
The reason for this is that whenever we display a date to you, we first look for that cookie on your computer. If it is present we adjust the date to you home town, as held in the cookie.
Our webpages use the cookie solely for that purpose, no other purpose. We do not store any data about you other than your home town setting and that stays in the cookie on your computer not ours. When you browse the web, no-one else can access that cookie.
2. In many places on GardenCalendar you have the option of sending us a comment / question. Your comment / question may then be displayed on the comments section of the relevant page.
On a comments section we may display your name but it will always only contain a maximum of your first name and surname initial. You are in control of the name you give us. Optionally you can also enter your email address if you want us to reply to your question personally.
We do not analyse any information we collect for the comments section, we make no attempt to identify you from it. Periodically, your emails are permanently deleted from our computer.
What are cookies?
A Cookie is small bit of information which is stored on your computer when you visit a website. GardenCalendar only creates one type of cookie, called a Service Cookie. It is used to store your home town which you voluntarily enter. Only GardenCalendar can access that cookie, no other websites can access it. It stays on your computer until the cookie expires. Our advertising partners such as Google Adsense also use cookies. They are anonymous – they cannot be used to identify individuals, but they can also allow the advertiser or your browser to tailor advertising to you when you visit other websites using the same browser.
They are used for statistical analysis by allowing the advertiser to count how many people have seen their advertisement or have seen it more than once, to make sure you are not repeatedly served with the same advertising messages.
We have no access to third party cookies and third party organisations have no access to ours. The third party organisations that place cookies, including your browser (such as Google) and the third party companies who pay for advertising and analytics services using this information, will have their own privacy policies.
How to Manage Cookies?
If you want to restrict cookies from specific or all websites (including GardenCalendar) then most browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) allow you to do this. Look in the help section of your browser.
Switching off cookies may restrict your use of the website and/or delay or affect the way in which it operates. It will certainly prevent GardenCalendar from showing you accurate dates for your home town.
Alternatively, visit www.youronlinechoices.com or click on the AdChoices logo that you will see in the top corner of advertisements that carry behavioural targeting cookies.
Do we disclose your information?
